Carol R. Ioane, M.Ed. provides students with opportunity to build a spiritual, physical and intellectual Hawaiian foundation


HILO, HI, March 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carol R. Ioane, M.Ed., Teacher at Ka'Umeke Ka'eo Hawaiian Immersion Public Charter School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

Exceedingly proud of her Hawaiian background, Carole R. Ioane became involved in cultural education over 20 years ago. In fact, she worked at one of the original Hawaiian Immersion Schools at the onset of her career and was afforded the opportunity to teach at Ka'Umeke Ka'eo Hawaiian Immersion Public Charter School when it was opened in 2001. Now celebrating her eighth year with the school, Ms. Ioane specializes in teaching language arts, literature and Hawaiian cultural studies. She works primarily with fourth and fifth-grade students, making certain to infuse their studies with Hawaiian culture, language and history with an emphasis on state standards. In addition to her classroom tasks, Ms. Ioane arranges and supervises student excursions to the six districts on the island in an effort to teach students about the land and its history.

Ms. Ioane holds a master of education in professional development from Heritage University, earned in 1991 and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Hawaii, earned in 1980. She is a certified teacher (K-6) and is professionally affiliated with the Strategic Planning Committee of Ka'Umeke Ka'eo Hawaiian Immersion Public Charter School, the Hawaiian Educational Association, the National Educational Association and the International Reading Association.

Established in 2001, Ka'Umeke Ka'eo Hawaiian Immersion Public Charter School assists students to build their spiritual, physical and intellectual Hawaiian foundation.
